The St. Charles City-County Library Board of Trustees has named a new leader as CEO. After reviewing 32 resumes and conducting many interviews, the Board of Trustees met in closed session on Monday night to name the new CEO. The Board of Trustees unanimously selected St. Charles County resident John Greifzu from the candidates considered. Greifzu will assume the role starting March 6th.
“The Board has consistently said their priorities for a new CEO include experience with preparing, presenting and administering budgets as well as bringing a fresh perspective to the district,” said Matthew Seeds, Library Board of Trustees President. “The Board is excited that John brings a wealth of experience in many areas, including governmental budgeting and working with our local municipal leaders and community partners.”
Greifzu currently serves as St. Charles County’s Assistant Director of Administration, overseeing the departments of Community Development, Highway, Information Systems, Parks, Roads and Traffic, and Workforce Development.
“I'm excited for the opportunity to work with the Board of Trustees, collaborate with library staff, and engage with community partners on the outstanding programs and services offered by the library that promote early childhood literacy, support reading development, and inspire a lifelong passion for learning,” said Greifzu.
Greifzu has 32 years of experience, during which time he has been responsible for the development of strategic plans, annual budgets, team building, community engagement, and project management. He also led the 2022 initiative to reauthorize the County’s 1/2-Cent Transportation Sales Tax known as Prop R for Roads. The tax was approved in every precinct and passed by nearly 72 percent of voters.
