However, cancellations do happen frequently. Check here for openings!

Friday, August 2
Friends members will enjoy advance shopping hours on the opening day of sale.
 
9 am to Noon
Friends members only admission
To enter at 9 am, Friends memberships must be received by July 26. Friends memberships will be sold on Friday immediately after the 9 am opening. To become a Friends member,
visit stchlibrary.org/friends-member.
 
Noon to 9 pm
Open to the general public.
Saturday, August 3
9 am to 7 pm

Sunday, August 4
10 am to 3 pm
Open to the general public.
$5.00 a bag day (most items). Standard-size plastic grocery bags provided on site
 
1 to 3 pm
Free books for nonprofit.
Advanced registration is required.
Silent Auction - Friday Only!

The auction will be happening in person during the fair and will feature some of the more valuable materials that were donated this year. Auction hours are 9 am to 5 pm on Friday only. Items must be picked up by 7 pm on Friday.

Bargain Prices - Great Selection

The Friends Book Fair is one of the largest in St. Louis. It offers over 250,000 hardbacks, paperbacks, sets, and records. Cash, check, or credit is accepted as payment. 

  • Most hardbacks $2.00 each 
  • Regular size paperbacks 50¢ each 
  • Oversize paperbacks $1.00 each 
  • All children’s & teen books 50¢ each 
  • AV materials priced as marked 
  • Cake Pans $5.00 each 
  • Some very old books, reference materials, and special items are priced separately.

Fundraising

All proceeds from the Book Fair are donated to the St. Charles City-County Library. Proceeds from the Book Fair and other fundraisers have been used to fund a wide variety of things including the annual reading challenges, special author events, construction and expansion of new branches, the purchase of furniture & equipment for all libraries, outdoor classrooms for library branches, and monthly book discussion groups at branches throughout the County.

Free Books for Non-Profit Organizations

The Friends will donate the "leftovers" from the 2024 Fair to nonprofit organizations (schools, churches, etc.) that can come on Sunday, August 4, between 1 pm and 3 pm and pick them up. Books will be given away on a first-come-first-serve basis.
